Happy Birthday, Allison!

It’s Allison’s birthday today, and, to honor her, we’d like to sing the praises of her favorite treat: vegan peanut butter cups. Now, Allison would tell you that her products are like her children and asking her to pick a favorite would be cruel. But, even if she won’t say it, the near-constant presence of an open bag of our luscious dark chocolate, salty-sweet vegan peanut butter cups on her desk tells the true story. So here’s to you Allison, we raise our peanut butter cups in your honor!

Organic Coffee Baked Goods

I really like the flavor of coffee, but it’s usually too strong for me to drink straight. Luckily, I’ve found other ways to get my coffee fix. For instance, I love the organic coffee in several of Allison’s Gourmet’s baked goods. Our Mocha and Mexican Chocolate Brownie flavors are a coffee lover’s dream: rich chocolate complemented by coffee’s aromatic overtones. My favorite, though, is our Java Crunch Fudge. It’s like the smoothest, creamiest mocha you’ve ever tasted topped with organic coffee nibs for exceptional flavor and exciting crunch.

Yeah, I may not drink a cup a day, but here at Allison’s there’s more than one way to get caffeinated.

Going Green

Is your company working on going green? Are you looking for green alternatives to mainstream corporate food gifts? More and more research shows that one of the biggest steps a person or business can take towards reducing its carbon footprint is cutting back its consumption of animal products. Allison’s Gourmet is here to help! Just think, you can support the green movement and compassionate living while eating awesome sweets at the same time! Show your friends and coworkers that vegan food is healthy and delicious by bringing a vegan cookies sampler to your next office party or sending vegan corporate food gifts to your business partners and associates. Let’s green the world, one vegan at a time!

Celebrating Spring Vegan Style!

I know it’s easy to procrastinate, but April is just around the corner and it’s time to start thinking about your vegan Easter and Passover celebrations. We recently had a customer contact us saying that she and her family use their vegan Passover gathering to celebrate freedom for all people and also for all animals. I thought that was such a beautiful sentiment and such a great argument for celebrating vegan Passover and Easter too, that I wanted to share it. She inspired me, and I’d like to follow her example and use these springtime festivities to celebrate new life, compassion and freedom for all beings. Happy spring, and don’t forget to order your vegan Easter chocolates this week!

Also, post here for a chance to win a springtime surprise!

Sip a Sweet Springtime Treat

Looking for a sweet treat that won’t expand your waistline? Believe it or not, iced tea is one of my favorite warm-weather treats. It’s cool, sweet and refreshing, and, if you use herbal tea and stevia, it’s not sugary or caffeinated. We have several delicious fair-trade teas and tisanes (herbal teas) here at Allison’s, but my favorite flavor right now is our Rooibos Chai. I brew it in the evenings in quart jars, put it in the fridge over night, add a splash of nut milk and a few drops of stevia and bring it to work with me. It’s spicy and refreshing to sip on all day, plus, it curbs my sweet tooth and helps me stay hydrated. I also love that my glass jars or stainless steel bottles are more sustainable than store-bought glass or plastic ones, and my homemade, fair-trade tea tastes better than store-bought, too!

Easter is Just Around the Corner

Easter will be here before we know it, and there’s still plenty of time to order your vegan Easter treats. Although it often seems like a silly holiday with the pastel colors and bunnies with eggs, there are still fun ways to celebrate this holiday of springtime and new life. When I was a kid, my mom used to grow Easter baskets for my sister and I every year. She’d sprout wheat berries in soil-filled baskets and my sister and I would get to water our baskets every day. On Easter morning our lush baskets could be found hiding somewhere in the house with chocolate goodies hidden in the tall, thick grass, which, incidentally, was pretty tasty all by itself.

If growing your own Easter basket seems a little too involved, try our elegant Easter and Springtime Gift Basket complete with paper “grass” in any color you choose.
