Weekly Wrap-up

Friends, I’d like to introduce a new weekly blog post from Allison’s Gourmet (AG) social media friend, Kris. She’ll be posting every Friday with updates from our Twitter and Facebook pages; giving you the latest and greatest in most popular tweets, discussions, and posts. ~ Allison

Hello, Kris here! I’m thrilled to join AG’s blogging team to bring you weekly updates on AG’s social media outlets. Let’s get started, shall we?

We had great discussions going on Tuesday, in both Facebook and Twitter, regarding the best vegan restaurants in the Chicago area. The most often recommended restaurant was The Chicago Diner! Surprised? I didn’t think so! The winner of VegNews‘ Favorite Vegetarian Restaurant in 2005 and 2009, as well as Favorite Brunch in 2005 and 2006, and winner of Vegetarian Times‘ 2009 Best Restaurant Midwest, I’m not surprised that you all chose The Chicago Diner as your favorite. I’ve been there and all I have to say is hello Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Milk Shake!!

In addition, I’d like to thank Mrs. Chloé Jo Davis, Founder of Girlie Girl Army, for referencing Allison’s tuna-free sandwich recipe on her Facebook page. Thanks Chloé! Also, a special thank-you goes out to Paige Newman for writing a wonderful article about AG on her website.  Our friends, fans, and followers really enjoyed these posts. Thanks, Ladies!

And of course, I must give a shout out to our super fan of the week: Jamie Davis for posting this picture to AG’s Facebook wall:

Jamie posted the above picture and said: “This is a good thing to get in the mail! Thanks Allison!” Thanks for posting this picture Jamie, and you are very welcome!

This post wouldn’t be complete without a nod to this week’s all star re-tweeter: @helpinganimals1. Thanks to @helpinganimals1 for re-tweeting a number of AG posts this week!

Oh, and my favorite, as well as one of the most highly talked about veg topics that made rounds on both Facebook and Twitter this week was San Francisco’s new Meat-Free Mondays. Still excited about this!

Fans, Friends, and Readers, thank you so much for your support on both Twitter and Facebook! We look forward to highlighting your pictures, input, and suggestions on next week’s update. Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Actually I understand San Francisco’s plan is “Veg Days” — not “Meat-Free Mondays” — and this is significant because the emphasis is not solely on removing flesh products but rather on a positive vision of “plant-based” living.

And yes, when a major municipality does this, it’s a major advancement.

  2. Allison says:

Thanks for the clarification, Lee. I completely agree with the significance of emphasizing the positive!

  3. Diem says:

Thank you awesome Kris and Allison. My retweets should influence more people to try veg! I know a meat eater who would like to try Allison’s chocolates; that is a good indication, is it not?
Hmm Meat Free Mondays? It should be Meat Free Week at least. I have said on number of occasions that people can do better than a day a week. One day is a small step. But, I suppose that is better than nothing.

  4. Paige Newman says:

    Thanks for the mention!

  5. Allison says:

You’re welcome, Paige. Thank YOU for the fantastic article!! =)
