Building the Perfect Gift (Not) for Smart People

There is an art to assembling a really wonderful gift, and it can be challenging, especially when the gift is really important. Let us help. The first thing most people notice is the presentation, and that is the easy part. We gift box every new order we ship, so anything you put in your cart will be elegantly encased in our signature gift boxes and tied with a lovely lavender grosgrain ribbon. (The exception to this is our gift baskets–including our gourmet coffee gift baskets–that have their own elegant gift packaging.)

Of course, the really important part of any gift is what’s inside the box, so give your gift some thought. If you know what the recipient likes, then by all means fill their gift box with all their favorites, but if you’re unsure of their taste preferences, variety is the way to go. Contrast is what allows us to enjoy experiences. Without the taste of sweet, it would be impossible to appreciate the taste of savory, and vice versa. If you choose something smooth and sweet like peppermint creme patties or vegan fudge, consider balancing those flavors and textures with something crunchy and nutty like toffee or peanut brittle.

We see a lot of  lovely gifts come through the shipping department each week and recently I’ve noticed several beautiful combinations of baked goods with beverages. Tea and cookies is an obvious choice, but fair-trade coffee and organic brownies, or vegan caramels with hot cocoa would be equally delightful. Taste-buds love diversity, so even if your person loves mint, mix it up a little; all mint all the time could get tiresome even for a true mint-lover.
