How-to: Storing Your Vegan Confections
With spring warming up every day and May’s monthly club shipments arriving any minute, here’s a little how-to on storing your vegan chocolates and confections in these warmer months.
Vegan toffee, peanut brittle and wrapped caramels may be stored dry, at room temperature in their original packaging or other airtight container for up to three months. Chocolate covered toffee and brittle should be kept cool and dry, away from direct heat or sunlight.
Vegan chocolates including gift-boxed caramels, truffles, barks, and peppermint creme patties, may be stored in a cool, dry place below 65°F for up to three months.
Vegan peanut butter cups can be stored in a cool, dry place for up to one week, or frozen in their original packaging or other airtight container for up to three months.
Vegan fudge is more perishable than other confections; it should be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week, or cut into bite-sized pieces and frozen in its original packaging or other airtight container for up to three months. Thaw at room temperature and enjoy!
How-to: Storing your Vegan Fudge
We often get questions about how best to store our products, so for those of you receiving vegan fudge this week either in a monthly club or as a Valentine’s Day gift, here’s all the storage info you need. First, all of our products should always be
stored in their original packaging or an airtight container to keep them from getting stale. Vegan fudge is temperature sensitive and perishable, so it should always be stored in the refrigerator or freezer. In the refrigerator, fudge should be eaten within a week. For a longer storage period, you may cut your fudge into bite-sized pieces and freeze it for up to 3 months. Defrost at room temperature and Enjoy!
Not Just Hot Cocoa Any More!
We recently changed the name of our Hot Cocoa to “Drinking Chocolate” for the simple reason that its equally delicious enjoyed hot or cold. True, it does make an amazingly rich cup of traditional hot cocoa with your favorite non-dairy milk (we
recommend rich and creamy Brazil Nut Milk for this), but that’s certainly not the only way to make it.
Perk up your cocoa with some of our fair-trade coffee for a heavenly hot or iced mocha. In the summer, the ways to use our drinking chocolate are almost endless. Try a glass of cold, creamy chocolate milk, or make a chocolate shake or smoothie. How about minty chocolate popsicles? Ever thought of chocolate milk coconut ice cream?! Experiment and have fun, you really can’t go wrong. For even more exciting options, try our perky Peppermint Drinking Chocolate. If you feel like sharing your own Drinking Chocolate recipes, post them here….we’d all love to try them.
